  • Who benefits from the raffle?
    Blackfriars Theatre, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, uses the proceeds from the raffle to pay for facility and equipment upgrades, increased operating expenses as well costs directly associated with producing live theater at Blackfriars. Blackfriars Theatre is a mid-sized professional theatre that has entertained audiences for 67 years in downtown Rochester, NY. Our mission is the enrich, entertain and inspire our community through exceptional theatrical arts created and performed by local talent.
  • How do you use the money raised?
    Many different ways! For example, funds from our raffle help pay for:
    Upgraded Theatrical Equipment
    Facility Renovations
    Underwriting Discounted Tickets for Seniors and Students
    Artist Stipends
    Expansion of the Blackfriars Theatre Summer Intensive (BTSI)- Summer 2018
     
  • Are these prizes donated?
    YES! Blackfriars Theatre is committed to making fiscally-responsible choices in all areas of operation. We are grateful to East Avenue Inn & Suites for their donation of an overnight in a Deluxe Suite and to our Restaurant Partner Nox Cocktail Lounge for donating a $100 gift certificate for use in the Triple Threat Raffle.
     
  • Do I have to be present at the drawing of the winning ticket?
    No. The drawing will take place during the curtain speech at the 2pm closing performance of Death of a Salesman on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
     
  • How will I find out if I won?
    As soon as the drawing is completed, the staff of Blackfriars Theatre will notify the winners through the phone number and email address provided by the ticket purchaser at time of purchase.
     
  • How many raffle tickets are sold?
    A maximum of 200 Triple Threat Raffle Tickets will be sold. Selling tickets to performances at Blackfriars Theatre can only account for 65% of our needed revenue. The net raffle funds are essential to maintaining affordable ticket prices for our patrons while still supporting high quality productions and programming at Blackfriars Theatre.
     
  • What about taxes?
    All prizes will be subject to federal tax withholding in accordance with the requirements of Federal law. Winner is responsible for all applicable local, state and federal taxes. Purchasers of Tickets are advised to consult their own tax advisors with respect to tax liabilities that may arise from winning a prize in Blackfriars Theatre’s Triple Threat Raffle.
