Deaf and hard-of-hearing

  • Blackfriars productions are ASL-interpreted on the first Saturday of each production run (seats clearly marked in our ticketing website)

  • Blackfriars is proud to be the first theatre in Rochester to provide Auracast broadcast audio, which can be accessed through several Auracast-broadcast-audio-accesible devices, including headphones, earbuds, and hearing aids—see below for more details!

  • We provide up to two headphones to connect to Auracast broadcast audio. Use of these devices is first-come-first-served, so please plan accordingly (alternative options below).

WHAT IS AURACAST BROADCAST AUDIO?

HOW TO CONNECT TO AURACAST BROADCAST AUDIO

Earbuds compatible with Auracast audio are designed to receive broadcasts using the Bluetooth LE Audio standard. Key examples include the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, JBL Tour ONE M3, Avantree Auracast Headphones, and the Moerlab hearClear series, though some may require a compatible transmitter or firmware updates. When shopping, look for models explicitly stating "Auracast compatible" or "native Auracast support" to ensure the necessary features are included.
