Blackfriars Theatre’s Full Covid-19 Safety Policy:

UPDATED AS OF AUGUST 31, 2023

Masks are no longer required for audiences at Blackfriars Theatre. Proof of vaccination is also no longer required. These changes in policy are in accordance with guidelines from Monroe County and the CDC.

Any patron who would feel more comfortable wearing a mask is welcome to do so, and the Box Office will have a complimentary supply of disposable masks available for anyone who would like one.

Additionally, Blackfriars will maintain the following safety measures, already in effect:

  • House will open 30 minutes prior to curtain to help us cut down on congestion in the theatre and lobby.

  • We will be operating a paperless and touchless Box Office. The Box Office will not print out tickets. Please print out your tickets and bring them with you to show the ushers or please have them available on your smartphone, with the seat numbers visible. We will be using Digital Programs, available through a reminder email, prior to the show date, or on our website. You can download the PDF to your smartphone or tablet to read at your leisure.

  • Blackfriars is a fully vaccinated workplace, with our staff, volunteers and artists all fully vaccinated.

  • Our spaces and high-touch surfaces are cleaned regularly and disinfected before each performance. In addition, Blackfriars has installed three iWave-C Air Purifiers in our three HVAC systems that cleans the air in the building every 30 minutes with a 99.4% rate of reduction.

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are located throughout the building and frequent hand washing is expected and encouraged of all staff, artists, volunteers, and patrons.

We encourage everyone to follow best hygiene practices (hand washing, covering sneezes and coughs, and other common-sense safety measures). If you are not feeling well or experiencing symptoms, we ask you to stay home and contact the Box Office to reschedule your tickets. We are happy to exchange your tickets for a time when you are feeling better. If you have any questions about this policy, please reach out to Executive Director Mary Tiballi Hoffman by email at mary@blackfriars.org. Please know we are adapting to this situation to maintain the utmost safety for our artists, staff, and audiences. We will continue to update policies to protect the health and safety of all involved as needed.

Please be respectful and considerate of everyone in the building - we would like everyone to have an enjoyable and comfortable experience.

Thank you for your support of this policy. We are excited to return to the theatre and appreciate you working with us to keep our artists, staff, audiences and each other safe.
