THE AUDITION:
Initial auditions will take place in one-hour groups and will consist of cold reads from the script. Auditionees will read with other members of their audition group as assigned by the creative team. You can familiarize your self with the show using the script link at the bottom of this page. Bring a headshot or up-to-date photo, your resume, and your calendar with you to list any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. If you cannot be available for callbacks, please let us know at the time of your audition.
THE SYNOPSIS:
Set in a modern-day White House, POTUS is a searingly funny Broadway hit that follows how seven women of dramatically different backgrounds work to minimize the damage done by male arrogance and political posturing. An endearing and hilarious homage to the women who keep things running behind the scenes.
THE PROCESS:
Rehearsals: as early as September 9th
Tech: Oct 19-23 — NO CONFLICTS PERMITTED DURING TECH
Performances: Oct 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, Nov 1, 2, 3 (no performance on Halloween)
CASTING: 7W (all actors must be 18+); Any of these women can be any ethnicity—specifically seeking diversity. Actors can be female-identifying or non-binary. Age is flexible. Beauty is subjective. So long as they’re fast, fierce, and fucking hilarious. All stipends: $300.00.

HARRIET – His chief of staff.
JEAN – His press secretary.
STEPHANIE – His secretary.
DUSTY – His dalliance.
BERNADETTE – His sister.
CHRIS – A journalist.
MARGARET – His wife, The First Lady.
Blackfriars practices color-conscious and body-positive casting. There can be no conflicts during tech week or performances. Auditions will take place at Blackfriars Theatre, 795 E Main St, Rochester 14605.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: Video submissions must be submitted to info@blackfriars.org no later than Friday, August 2nd (late submissions will not be considered). Please include two (2) scenes of one minute or less from the script; they may be two readings for one character or one separate reading each for two different characters; frame should be tight enough to see emotions; you must have another person reading lines with you off camera (please do not read a two-person scene by yourself).
