The concept of Twelfth Night requires a musical component. Our goal is for this component to be live, with a few of the actors singing and playing instruments. Therefore, as part of the company of Twelfth Night, we are seeking actor-musicians for a few roles.
If you play an instrument, please prepare 16-32 bars (a representative sample) of what you can do with the instrument and bring it with you for auditions. A piano will be provided.
For the acting portion, please be familiar with the characters and the play. Auditions and callbacks will consist of cold readings from the script. No monologues are necessary.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: (some roles will be double cast)
Viola (20’s – 30’s) – A young, free-spirited woman who washes up on the shore of Illyria and disguises herself as a man. Twin-sister to Sebastian.
Sebastian (20’s – 30’s) – A young, ambitious man who washes up on the opposite shore of Illyria than Viola does, which leads him to believe his sister is dead. Twin brother to Viola.
Orsino (30’s – 60’s) – A powerful jazz club owner. Emotional and passionate. Now a man of wealth.
Olivia (30’s – 50’s) – A wealthy, influential society woman who has inherited the family fortune after the death of her father and brother. She undergoes a journey from contained to opened.
Feste* (20’s – 60’s) – The working artist, singer and clown. Goes between Orsino and Olivia’s houses. Maybe the wisest person in the play. May be played as a woman. *Will sing in the play and require a vocal audition at callbacks.
Sir Toby (40’s – 60’s) – Olivia’s uncle. A heavy-drinking, fun loving guy who lives off of Olivia’s wealth. A comedic role.
Sir Andrew Aguecheek (30’s – 60’s) – A friend and drinking-mate of Sir Toby’s, who is courting Olivia. A bit of a fool. A man of wealth. A comedic role.
Maria (20’s – 50’s) – A clever, daring, fun-spirited assistant to Olivia. Marries Sir Toby after masterminding a successful prank on Malvolio with Sir Toby and company. A working-class woman.
Malvolio (40’s – 60’s) – The straight-laced, efficient head servant to Olivia. Self-righteous, working-class, religious, and full of aspirations to climb above his station in life. A complex comedic role.
Antonio (40’s – 60’s) – A man who rescues Sebastian after his shipwreck, and loves and cares for him. A man with a tough, working-class background who can’t be seen in Illyria because of past trouble with the law.
Fabian (20’s – 60’s) – A man who works in Olivia’s house. He takes part in the trick against Malvolio. A working-class man.
Valentine, Curio, Captain, Officers and Priest (20’s - 60’s) - People who work in the jazz club and as civil servants, etc. May also be singers, musicians and dancers.
